Performance…

You may find this bike is a little bigger and heavier than expected, however that’s not a bad thing. The Zoyo 20″ folding bike feels nice and sturdy, as well as pretty comfortable to sit on.

Once you get moving, it’s pretty fast, not as fast as a road bike, but easily fast enough to make a noticeable difference to a morning commute or a quick dash to the store.  Riding is pretty smooth, the gears shift smoothly without clunking and make hill climbing less of an effort. This bike is also pretty maneuverable and good for beating rush hour traffic, and it’s not bad over slight bumps too.

The only drawback we found is that  although it is pretty comfortable for riding short distances, it does get uncomfortable on longer journeys so you may want to swap the seat for something comfier.

The brakes work ok…probably could be improved a little but they do stop the bike when required, and the kickstand does its job without any problems.

Folding the bike down is also pretty easy and it’s also not too much of a problem to take on and off public transport, however it can be a little awkward to carry, especially if you live or work high up.

The bottom line here is that this is a low-budget folding bike and there are better bikes out there, however this one isn’t at all bad considering the price and if you are operating on a tight budget it is well worth checking out.

The Columba 26 inch Folding Bike is built around a steel frame as opposed to an aluminum one. Steel frame bikes provide a smoother and more comfortable ride and are more flexible which enhances comfort especially when riding long distances, plus steel is also denser and stronger than aluminum and better at absorbing vibration allowing it to take harder knocks without becoming damaged.

This bikes 26″ inch wheels give better acceleration and make this bike fantastic for climbing short and steep hills, as well as for fast flowing, quick turning trail riding. Bikes with 26″ wheels also perform better over bumps, potholes and curbs than bikes with smaller wheels, however remember that this bike has no suspension or shocks and so not really designed for mountain bike style riding.

The Shimano 18-speed shifter and derailleur give really smooth and accurate changing and are a great help when it come to adapting from smooth and flat to hilly terrain. The Shimano twist grip shifter is easy and comfortable to use, and the gears are smooth shifting and very responsive for a good smooth ride on paved roads and paths as well as on tracks and trails.

With this bike you also get alloy front and rear V-brakes which have the advantage of being very lightweight, as well as being easy and cheap to maintain and replace, even on the go.  This type of brakes differ from disc brakes by not putting any stress or strain on the hubs or spokes during braking plus the don’t get in the way of the kickstand. They are  strong and responsive and do give you plenty of stopping power when you need it, however they are slightly less effective than disc brakes in wet and muddy conditions. but more than make up for it by being more aerodynamic allowing for faster acceleration and easier cruising.

These tires are also designed to require less effort when pedaling and give you a smoother ride. You will also notice that they give a pretty good ride on rough roads as well as paved streets and are also good for riding in heavy rain and on soft surfaces like snow too. All of this makes these great tires for commuting, trail riding, and handling the odd pothole, and they are pretty durable too, however for serious mountain biking you may need to upgrade to tires designed for harsher terrain types.

For added comfort and control this bike has a quick removable front handlebar stem. this allows you top adjust the height of the handlebar to suit your own individual riding position and save your hands, wrists and forearms from suffering any unnecessary stresses and strains while riding, plus it also gives you the option to change the handlebar altogether for one with different angle or bend and although this may seem like only a small change, it’s easily enough to transform a good bike into a great bike.

And fitted to the handlebar there is a PVC black bell which allows you to let other cyclists, pedestrians and road users know you’re around so they can keep an eye out for you and avoid any unnecessary accidents.

How Does The Columba 26 inch Folding Bike Ride?

We really like how this folding bike rides, it’s smooth and solid and a great ride especially for riders who are new to folding bikes. The bike rides just like a regular mountain bike, the gears and brakes work well-no shuddering or jerking and the hand grips are really comfortable and make riding for long distances really easy on your hands and wrists, however you may not feel the same way about the seat. The seat does begin to get a little hard after 5-6 miles and so you may need to replace the seat with a bigger and more comfortable one, or at least a gel seat cover, if you intend riding on long journeys.

In terms of build and strength, this bike is easily rigid enough for an enjoyable ride whether you are using it around town for commuting to work or school, or riding on mountain trails. If you intend riding on rougher terrain you may want to swap the tires out for rough terrain tires as this bike comes fitted with road tires. You may also want to keep in mind that this bike has no suspension either so you will be in for a bumpy ride on very uneven ground.

As you would probably expect from Shimano, the gear shifting is responsive, accurate and very smooth-no clunking or jerking, and the gears are also great for taking the effort out of riding up hills, plus they also do a great job of helping you pick up speed easily on the flat, which comes in handy for speedy commutes. The gears also make trail riding fun and easy however you will notice the lack of suspension on rougher tracks and trails.

Easy to fold and unfold, takes less than a minute either way, you could probably do it in under 30 seconds with practice. At 35 lbs it is a little heavy to be carrying around for long but having said that we found it to be easy to take on the bus, subway, or train which makes it perfect for commutes.

At the end of the day what you get is a well made and solid folding bike which looks good, is pretty durable, gives a nice smooth, and pretty fast ride and basically does everything it’s supposed to.

Performance…

Well, to start with, the Vilano Urbana is easily adjustable allowing you to set it at the most comfortable riding position for you, it feels strong and sturdy, which it is considering how lightweight it is, and once you have it adjusted it’s a pretty comfortable bike to sit on.

Once you get moving it picks up speed pretty quick and rides and handles really well. It gives a nice smooth ride that is similar to what you get on a BMX, and like a BMX it takes uneven roads, bumps and small curbs pretty well indeed. It’s a great bike for riding on the flat where it’s pretty fast considering it’s single speed, and it’s also pretty good on hills as long as they aren’t too steep.

The coaster brake works pretty well too. It will probably take some getting used to if you’ve never ridden a bike with this type of brakes before, but once you have the hang of it braking really couldn’t be simpler.

It also has to be said that the seat on this Vilano folding bike can become hard and uncomfortable after 5-6 miles and so we can’t recommend it for long distance riding, unless you either add a gel seat cover, or replace the seat entirely with on that’s easier on your butt.

Another thing you will notice is that due to this folding bikes light weight it is very easy to maneuver, particularly on corners and when zipping in and out of traffic on a commute. Being lightweight it is also very easy to carry and get on and off buses and trains as well as up and down flights of stairs.

The folding aspect of the Urbana is also pretty impressive, however there is a bit of a low learning curve involved. The latch is pretty stiff to begin with, which isn’t a bad thing, and once you have the hang of it you can have this bike folded down, or up, in under 30 seconds.

All-in-all, we think the Vilano Urbana folding bike is an excellent space saving choice for commutes as well as for leisure riding. It’s strong, solid and reliable, extremely low maintenance and well worth checking out.

The Stowabike 26″ Folding MTB V2 is a pretty decent quality folding mountain bike for the price. It is not the best bike for hardcore mountain bike enthusiasts, but for casual weekend trail riders, and riders who enjoy the occasional run around town, to and from the store, and work and college commuters who don’t intend to hammer the bike every chance they get, it’s pretty good.

The bikes 26″ folding frame is made from cast iron which makes it heavier and slightly less portable than some of its competitors. Being made from cast iron does give the frame the added advantages of being incredibly tough and durable as well as being rust and corrosion resistant, and also contributes towards a more comfortable ride.

The front steel suspension fork may not be the best in the world however it still does a pretty good job of cushioning against lumps, bumps and potholes for a smoother and more comfortable ride which is also easier on your hands, wrists, and forearms, especially when riding on tougher terrain.

The 18-speed gearing is pretty much a must on a bike the size of the Stowabike 26″ Folding MTB V2 is good, it’s surprisingly smooth and accurate and gives the bike some decent terrain adaptability when you need it, thus saving your legs from having to work any harder than necessary.

The bikes dual suspension comes in really handy on tough trails to make your ride really quite comfortable, and on city streets and other paved surfaces the ride is even smoother, in fact in our opinion the gears and suspension together make urban riding more like urban floating, which is pretty remarkable for a folding bike at this price point.

Performance…

For people who aren’t hardcore mountain bikers and just want a bike to go to for a leisurely coast through the neighborhood, to the park and mountain trails for a ride and save on storage space, this bike is just fine, and although we wouldn’t recommend it for trails with ratings of “very difficult” and “extreme”, this is a great bike for the trails, it handles very well on stone roads, and it is responsive and easy to handle on city streets for commutes.

This bike is pretty easy to assemble, although the instructions do leave a lot to be desired, and assembly isn’t really much more than putting air in the tires, fitting the front wheel, seat and handlebars and performing a few minor adjustments to the brakes and gears and can all be done in 15 minutes or less-tools are included.

One thing we should point out here is that the Stowabike 26″ MTB V2 is only really suitable for riders from 5 ft 5 in to 6 ft 1 in tall, this is due to the length of the seatpost, you can of course cut it down to suit if you like, otherwise we recommend going for a different folding mountain bike which fits you.

Other than that, this is a pretty strong folding bike that’s been built to last, it feels sturdy when you get on and not like a cheap toy that’s going to snap in half when you go over your first bump.

Riding is nice and smooth, the gears seem to take a little while to break in but once they have they shift really smoothly and deal really well with uneven surfaces, they make climbing hills easy and handle changes in terrain smoothly and without any problems. You get a really smooth ride on paved surfaces, the bike picks up speed pretty quickly and is easy to handle despite its weight.

The Stowabikes brakes aren’t the best in the world to be honest, nor the worst either and they do stop the bike which is the important thing.

The suspension performs pretty well on bumpy terrain, probably better than you would normally expect from a bike at this price point. The rear shocks are a major plus and handle ruts and potholes nicely. The bike thick tires help here too and give a pretty decent grip on and off-road.

The only real drawback with this bike is that the seat isn’t exactly super comfortable, especially for long distances, however it does give you the support you need and so a gel seat cover will probably remedy this rather than shelling out for another seat.

All-in-all we found the Stowabike 26″ MTB V2 to be a low-cost functional folding mountain bike that’s also great for commuting and zipping through shortcuts where cars can’t go, and that folds down easily to save on storage space in the shed, garage or car trunk, and is easy enough to take on public transport.

And although some of the components could be better quality, at this price point your’e still getting a lot of bike for your money and so this is still one to check out, especially if you’re buying on a budget.

Verdict-Should You Buy The Stowabike 26″ Folding MTB V2?…

If you’re looking for an easily affordable folding mountain bike to use on moderate to average mountain trails and urban commutes, and that is also a space saver when it comes to storing it away we strongly recommend checking out the Stowabike 26″ MTB V2 on Amazon.com.

This bike has a seriously durable and rust resistant folding frame which should last you for many years to come and its 18-speed gearing is actually made by Shimano so there should be no problems there either.

The dual suspension is also very good at absorbing lumps and bumps and cushioning against potholes and the like so you get a pretty comfortable ride on trails, and a super comfortable ride on paved surfaces which make it a great choice for commutes as well.

The only drawbacks we came across with this bike are that the seat is a bit on the hard side and we think that some of the components like the brake levers are a little cheap, so if your’e wondering why this bike didn’t make it onto our top 10 list, now you know.

That being said, even though this isn’t the best folding mountain bike we have reviewed, this bike is getting plenty of positive feedback on Amazon and for what it costs it is still a bike worth checking out if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, it won’t fall apart underneath you, it’s just not built for hardcore mountain biking, but for everything else it’s a pretty good bike.

What Is The Urbano Like To Ride?

This folding bike is really comfortable to ride. Everything about it is smooth, solid and stable, it’s really well balanced and rides every bit as good as far more expensive folding bike. It’s easily adjusted to fit different sized riders, picks up speed nicely on the flat, and glides along pretty quickly, just like a full sized bike. It also rides downhill at speed really well with no wobbles or shakes, and it climbs hills nicely too.

It also handles bumps and potholes pretty well making it just as good to ride on trails as it is on streets, and we found it to be sporty, very lightweight and very maneuverable too, although the seat can start to get a bit hard after riding 5-6 miles.

The Zizzo Urbano’s gearing is spot on, the bikes twist grip shifter is really comfortable and easy to use and the shifting is perfect, you could even say it’s fluid, that’s how smooth it is, giving this bike fantastic terrain adaptability. Hill climbing is almost effortless and on the flat the top gear is surprisingly fast.

The brakes are responsive and work really well to give jerk free stopping power right when you need it, including when traveling down hill at speed. The brake levers are easy to reach and operate, and controlling stopping distances is a breeze.

And once you reach your destination, folding the bike down and storing it away really couldn’t be any easier. The Zizzo Urbano is really quick and easy to fold down into a compact little bundle that is easily small enough to park in a corner without it being in the way, or in a closet, under a desk, pretty much anywhere you care to keep it.

This bike is also light enough to carry up and down stairs, on and off elevators, trains and buses, and even be stored away in the trunk of a car. The magnetic catcher works pretty well, however we have heard stories about them coming loose and even breaking off so bear that in mind, plus the frame latch can be a little tight but as far as we’re concerned this isn’t a bad thing as it makes the bike nice and solid to ride.

All-in-all we are pretty impressed with this folding bike and if light, fast and maneuverable is what you’re looking for we think you will be too.

Verdict-Should You Buy The EuroMini ZiZZO Urbano?

If you’re looking for a super lightweight folding bike to use for city commutes as well as trail riding the Euromini Zizzo Urbano should be right there at the top of your list, and we highly recommend checking this one out first.

Even thought this bike missed out on making it onto our top 10 folding bikes list, just by the seat of its pants we should add, it’s still a fantastic choice if you want the lightest folding bike you can get, and also one that folds down nice and small for easy storage.

As well as being super light, this bike is also super solid and sturdy, pretty fast in top gear and highly maneuverable. This bike is also one of the best folding bikes we have come across so far for tackling hills, and easily the best for carrying up and down stairs and being easy to sore.

The gearing is great, its smooth and comfortable to ride and the kickstand is a nice touch.

OK, so it doesn’t come with fenders or a carry rack, but considering everything you do get for your money with this one it’s hardly an issue and you can always add them later if you so choose.

So is it worth buying? We definitely think so, but don’t just take our word for it…

The frame suspension on this folding bike, along with the front suspension forks ensure that you enjoy a comfortable riding experience even when riding or pulling stunts on rougher terrain. The suspension also comes in very handy for riding this bike on city streets where it makes riding feel less like riding and more like floating along.

The Eurobike frame folds literally in half along the crossbar for easy storage, however remember this is a mountain bike and does not fold down as compactly as a regular folding bike and so will require a little bit more storage space. Once folded down it is fairly easy to carry with you, so no need to leave it lying about unattended, and it also fits easily into the trunk of a standard size car for easy transportation.

The 21-speed Shimano gearing features a TZ-30 front derailleur, a TZ-50 rear derailleur , along with a handlebar mounted EF-500 3 x 7-speed shifter. The gears are good and responsive giving this bike very good terrain adaptability as well as excellent hill climbing capabilities. Shifting is accurate and smooth and easy to reach and operate.

This folding bike is designed for use by adults and even though it has an adjustable seat, and 26″ wheels it is only suitable for riders from 5 ft 3 ins tall, up to 5 ft 9 ins tall which in our opinion makes it a better choice for smaller riders with some growing left to do. That being said, if you have reached your full height and fall within the recommended height limits, this bike would also make a pretty good choice for you in that respect.

The braking system on this bike is a dual disc brake which provides pretty good stopping power at a pull of the levers. Being dual disc, the brakes are also just as effective in wet and dry weather and have the added advantage of being less stressful on the rims.

This is a pretty decent bike for the money and if you’re thinking of buying a folding mountain bike we think you should give this one some serious consideration.

Performance…

This bike gives a really good ride, it’s smooth and quiet, and even though it’s a little heavy it still handles very well. In fact in terms of the weight, it actually feels weightless as soon as you get moving. It is also put together pretty well, it’s sturdy and won’t fall apart underneath you even on tough terrain.

The shocks and front suspension are brilliant and the bike rides really well on rough trails, the tires are strong and tough and can take a real beating. This bike is also a fantastic ride on city streets so it would also make a pretty good commuter bike too.

The tiny bit of assembly you will need to do before riding it is really very easy however you may find the brakes a little difficult to adjust but this does get easier with some practice.

As for storing the bike away when not using it, it folds down really easily and fits easily into the trunk of a standard size car, a small closet, or the corner of an apartment. It’s also light enough to carry with you up and down stairs if you live a few floors up.

All-in-all this folding mountain bike gives pretty good value for money, it’s one of our top folding mountain bikes for 2020, and we think it is well worth taking a look at and comparing against similar models before making a final buying decision.

With the Mariner D8, Dahon have surpassed even themselves and produced an incredibly versatile folding bike. It is very lightweight, weighing in at just 28 lbs and making it light enough to be carried on and off buses, trains and elevators, as well as up and down stairs, plus it folds down neatly and compact enough to be easily stored indoors meaning you don’t ever have to leave it outside unattended, because if you do-this bike WILL be stolen!

The bikes frame is made from a Dalloy Sonus Tubeset which increases strength and torsional rigidity by an impressive 30%+ when compared to frames made from similar sized oval tubing, and is unique to Dahon. This type of construction makes the bikes frame incredibly strong and durable while still keeping the weight down low.

The folding mechanism on the Dahon Mariner is built using Dahons refined lattice forged hinge technology. This produces a formidably strong hinge that is also amazingly lightweight and which gives outstanding performance time after time. This unique hinge is cold forged from stainless steel and brass components making it virtually weather resistant and extremely durable.

The hinge also features a Visegrip latching mechanism which is very strong indeed. The latch fits easily into your hand and is super smooth to operate. You also get a stainless steel hinge pin and brass bushings to buffer the moving parts.

The front forks and steerer tube are made from high tensile steel which gives them a pretty decent amount of strength, easily enough to tackle the rigors, and improve the ride quality, of urban commuting, as well as making them long lasting, very hard wearing, and resistant to corrosion.

The D8 Mariners front and rear 110 mm alloy v-brakes will provide you with all the stopping power you will need for gradual, as well as sudden and safe braking, without any juddering, making it an ideal choice for commuters who are determined to beat the rush hour traffic safely, and the brake levers are strong and smooth and easy to reach and operate.

This bike also comes with 20-inch lightweight aluminum rims which help keep the bikes overall weight down to a minimum while at the same time being incredibly strong and hard wearing, resistant to corrosion and giving a more comfortable ride.

The rims are fitted with Schwalbe Citizen tires which have a smooth cut tread design for easy rolling but will still give some pretty good grip on looser surfaces. The tires also have reflective side walls for additional safety when riding at night. How Does It Ride?…

In a  nutshell, the Dahon Mariner rides exactly like you would expect a premium quality folding bike at this price point to ride. Sit on this bike and you will be able to feel the quality, it’s a solid and sturdy piece of precision engineering.

Once you get moving you will notice how quickly and smoothly you pick up speed with the highly responsive and easy to use Shimano gearing, moving up and down through the gears is pretty much effortless, and the ride through city streets can only be described as very comfortable indeed, even over bumps, thanks to the super comfortable saddle and the air filled Schwalbe tires.

The tires give a good grip in both wet and dry riding conditions, they roll smoothly, and don’t lose any traction when riding uphill.

The braking system is very good and delivers strong and controlled braking, which brings the bike to an effective stop either instantly, or gradually, without any jerks or shudders as required.

The bikes light weight makes it very easy to ride and maneuver, great for zipping in and out of traffic on a commute, making this bike a pretty good timer saver. 

It folds down really easily into small and compact little bundle and can be very easily stored away in a closet, the trunk of a car, or in the corner or under a desk in an office or apartment.

Performance…

You just know you’re onto a winner with this bike before you even go anywhere. For a pretty amazing ride, it has excellent adjust-ability so take a minute or two and adjust the handlebar and seat to exactly where you want them, you can also adjust the handlebar tilt too to make this bike feel like it has been specially designed and built just for you.

Once you’re all set and moving you’ll see just what a smooth and solid ride this bike gives. It may look a little like a basic boneshaker but nothing could be further from the truth. As just mentioned, this bike is solid, no creaks or wobbles here, plus it’s also pretty comfortable and handles very well indeed.

Obviously being a single-speed bike it’s only going to move as fast as you make it, however it’s still pretty nippy and nimble when it comes to beating and weaving in and out of rush hour traffic making it a great choice for commutes.

The tires are pretty good too, they roll really well and grip roads and other paved surfaces well too making it really easy to cover fair distances in otherwise difficult driving conditions quick and easy.

The coaster brake is fantastic and gives you fantastic stopping power right when you need it whether you’re riding on a sunny summers day, or in the middle of a rainstorm. Wet or dry, strong and reliable braking, and all without any of the maintenance hassles of traditional lever pull, or disc brakes.

Performance…

Despite this bike being heavier than  a lot of other folding bikes out there it actually handles pretty well. It’s a basic functional bike that is easy to operate, sturdy, and rides pretty smooth and comfortably, however the seat may take some getting used to for some users as it is a little on the hard side.

You will have no doubt noticed that this bike has no gears meaning in terms of speed, distance and terrain adaptability, with this bike you are well and truly on your own meaning you will only ever be able to travel as fast, as far and climb any hills as well as you are able to pedal.

Having said that, this is a great bike to ride on the flat for city commutes, trips to and from the store- the carry rack is good and sturdy, and general leisure riding or riding around town and taking in the sights. If you are looking for a folding bike for riding long distances, you would do well to bear in mind what we said earlier about the seat as some riders will find it a little hard at first.

You should also bear in mind that this bike is a little heavier than say the Zizzo Via which weighs in at just 27 lbs, and the Zizzo Campo at 28 lbs, so if you need a bike that’s lightweight enough to carry on and off buses, trains and elevators, as well as up and down stairs you may do better with either one of these.

As for folding this bike, it’s really easy to do and once folded down it’s a breeze to store away literally anywhere either in the corner of an office or apartment, in a closet, and it even fits nice and easily into the trunk of an average size car. You also get a pretty cool heavy duty nylon carry bag with a zip fastener to keep it together and protected when folded down.

That all being said, the Schwinn Hinge Folding Bike is a pretty decent choice of a budget friendly bike. It’s fantastic quality for the money and if you’re buying on a budget this one is well worth checking out.

Performance…

The Max4out Folding Mountain Bike performs every bit as well as you would expect a standard mountain bike to perform. When you first get seated on it, one of the first things  you will notice is just how solid, sturdy and comfortable it feels. The shocks are pretty decent however the front suspension could probably be improved a little bit but it’s still pretty effective so maybe we’re nit picking a bit here.

Gears give good terrain adaptability even on very rough ground and they also give you an amazingly smooth ride on paved surfaces which makes this an awesome bike for commuting as well as mountain biking.

The brakes can take a little bedding in hut once they have they work brilliantly, even on loose ground like gravel and dirt. The tires give pretty god grip too which helps there.

All-in-all, this is a pretty decent folding mountain bike and gives a smooth and solid ride that’s fun and enjoyable pretty much anywhere you care to ride it, and we highly recommend taking a closer look at this one if you are looking for a seriously tough mountain bike.
